The facts on the card
The card carries these facts from its Wikipedia article.
- It is approximately one and a half times the length of an oboe, making it essentially an alto oboe in F. The cor anglais is a transposing instrument pitched in F, a perfect fifth lower than the oboe.
- This means that music for the cor anglais is written a perfect fifth higher than the instrument sounds.
- The fingering and playing technique used for the cor anglais are essentially the same as those of the oboe, and oboists typically double on the cor anglais when required.
Why it is Uncommon
Rarity in WikiCards follows a year of Wikipedia page views: the most read articles become Epic and Legendary cards. The Cor anglais article was read about 110,000 times in a year. ATK comes from the length of the article and DEF from its quality, so this card hits with 68 and blocks with 42: each hit it takes is cut by 17 %.
