The facts on the card
The card carries these facts from its Wikipedia article.
- Before photosynthesis evolved, Earth's atmosphere and ancient superocean had little free elemental diatomic oxygen.
- Small quantities of oxygen were released by geological processes, but did not build up in the prebiotic atmosphere due to reactions with then-abundant reducing gases such as atmospheric methane and hydrogen sulfide and surface reductants such as ferrous iron and sulfur.
- Photoautotrophs capable of oxygenic photosynthesis appeared during the Mesoarchean era, and over the course of the next billion years began releasing oxygen into the ocean.
Why it is Uncommon
Rarity in WikiCards follows a year of Wikipedia page views: the most read articles become Epic and Legendary cards. The Geological history of oxygen article was read about 30,000 times in a year. ATK comes from the length of the article and DEF from its quality, so this card hits with 69 and blocks with 41: each hit it takes is cut by 16 %.
