The facts on the card
The card carries these facts from its Wikipedia article.
- Fermat's principle states that the path taken by a ray between two given points is the path that can be traveled in the least time.
- First proposed by the French mathematician Pierre de Fermat in 1662, as a means of explaining the ordinary law of refraction of light, Fermat's principle was initially controversial because it seemed to ascribe knowledge and intent to nature.
- Not until the 19th century was it understood that nature's ability to test alternative paths is merely a fundamental property of waves.
Why it is Uncommon
Rarity in WikiCards follows a year of Wikipedia page views: the most read articles become Epic and Legendary cards. The Fermat's principle article was read about 58,000 times in a year. ATK comes from the length of the article and DEF from its quality, so this card hits with 79 and blocks with 84: each hit it takes is cut by 34 %.
How to get Fermat's principle
Open packs. Each pack holds five cards drawn from real Wikipedia articles, the rarest last, and the fifth card is always Rare or better. The odds are shown in the game. A free pack arrives every hour and two can wait, and the Coins you win in duels buy more packs.
