The facts on the card
The card carries these facts from its Wikipedia article.
- The observatory's main instrument was the Arecibo Telescope, a 305 m spherical reflector dish built into a natural sinkhole, with a cable-mount steerable receiver and several radar transmitters for emitting signals mounted 150 m above the dish.
- Completed in 1963, it was the world's largest single-aperture telescope for 53 years, surpassed in July 2016 by the Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical Telescope in China.
- On August 10 and November 6, 2020, two of the receiver's support cables broke and the NSF announced that it would decommission the telescope.
Why it is Uncommon
Rarity in WikiCards follows a year of Wikipedia page views: the most read articles become Epic and Legendary cards. The Arecibo Observatory article was read about 150,000 times in a year. ATK comes from the length of the article and DEF from its quality, so this card hits with 71 and blocks with 59: each hit it takes is cut by 24 %.
