The facts on the card
The card carries these facts from its Wikipedia article.
- Because of his success with Sketches by Boz published in 1836, Dickens was asked by the publisher Chapman & Hall to supply descriptions to explain a series of comic "cockney sporting plates" by illustrator Robert Seymour, and to connect them into a novel.
- The book became a publishing phenomenon, with bootleg copies, theatrical performances, Sam Weller joke books, and other merchandise.
- On its cultural impact, Nicholas Dames in The Atlantic writes, "'Literature' is not a big enough category for Pickwick.
Why it is Uncommon
Rarity in WikiCards follows a year of Wikipedia page views: the most read articles become Epic and Legendary cards. The The Pickwick Papers article was read about 130,000 times in a year. ATK comes from the length of the article and DEF from its quality, so this card hits with 68 and blocks with 68: each hit it takes is cut by 27 %.
