The facts on the card
The card carries these facts from its Wikipedia article.
- In 1904, Sinclair spent seven weeks gathering information in the meat packing district of the Union Stock Yards in Chicago for the socialist newspaper Appeal to Reason, which published his novel in serial form in 1905.
- In 1906, the novel was published in book format by Doubleday.
- The book portrays working-class poverty, immigrant struggle, lack of social support or welfare, harsh living and dangerous working conditions, generating hopelessness, cynicism, and cruelty among the powerless.
Why it is Rare
Rarity in WikiCards follows a year of Wikipedia page views: the most read articles become Epic and Legendary cards. The The Jungle article was read about 290,000 times in a year. ATK comes from the length of the article and DEF from its quality, so this card hits with 72 and blocks with 62: each hit it takes is cut by 25 %.
