The facts on the card
The card carries these facts from its Wikipedia article.
- He is known for the discovery and development of hundreds of pharmaceuticals originally occurring in microorganisms.
- In 2015 he shared the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine with Tu Youyou and with William C. Campbell for their role in the discovery of the world's first endectocide, ivermectin, a safe and highly effective microfilaricide.
- It is believed that the large molecular size of ivermectin prevents it from crossing the blood/aqueous humour barrier, and renders the drug an important treatment of helminthically-derived blindness.
Why it is Uncommon
Rarity in WikiCards follows a year of Wikipedia page views: the most read articles become Epic and Legendary cards. The Satoshi Ōmura article was read about 15,000 times in a year. ATK comes from the length of the article and DEF from its quality, so this card hits with 64 and blocks with 62: each hit it takes is cut by 25 %.
