The facts on the card
The card carries these facts from its Wikipedia article.
- It was first fully outlined by Ernst Mayr in 1942, using existing theoretical work by those such as Sewall Wright.
- As a result of the loss of genetic variation, the new population may be distinctively different, both genotypically and phenotypically, from the parent population from which it is derived.
- In extreme cases, the founder effect is thought to lead to the speciation and subsequent evolution of new species.
Why it is Uncommon
Rarity in WikiCards follows a year of Wikipedia page views: the most read articles become Epic and Legendary cards. The Founder effect article was read about 79,000 times in a year. ATK comes from the length of the article and DEF from its quality, so this card hits with 72 and blocks with 54: each hit it takes is cut by 22 %.
