The facts on the card
The card carries these facts from its Wikipedia article.
- It was written in 1976–1977 at the request of Gidon Kremer and Tatiana Grindenko who were also the violin soloists at its premiere on 21 March 1977 in Leningrad together with Yuri Smirnov on keyboard instruments and the Leningrad Chamber Orchestra under Eri Klas.
- It is one of the best-known of Schnittke's polystylistic compositions and marked his break-through in the West.
Why it is Common
Rarity in WikiCards follows a year of Wikipedia page views: the most read articles become Epic and Legendary cards. The Concerto Grosso No. 1 article was read about 5,500 times in a year. ATK comes from the length of the article and DEF from its quality, so this card hits with 64 and blocks with 52: each hit it takes is cut by 21 %.
