The facts on the card
The card carries these facts from its Wikipedia article.
- Formerly a senior surgeon, he was struck off the British medical register in 2010 for "serious professional misconduct" due to his involvement in the fraudulent 1998 Lancet MMR autism report, which falsely claimed a link between the measles, mumps and rubella vaccine and autism.
- The publicity surrounding the study caused a sharp decline in vaccination uptake, leading to a number of outbreaks of measles around the world and many deaths as a result.
- He was a surgeon on the liver transplant programme at the Royal Free Hospital in London, and became a senior lecturer and honorary consultant in experimental gastroenterology at the Royal Free and University College School of Medicine.
Why it is Rare
Rarity in WikiCards follows a year of Wikipedia page views: the most read articles become Epic and Legendary cards. The Andrew Wakefield article was read about 330,000 times in a year. ATK comes from the length of the article and DEF from its quality, so this card hits with 88 and blocks with 81: each hit it takes is cut by 32 %.
