The facts on the card
The card carries these facts from its Wikipedia article.
- His 1949 novel The Man with the Golden Arm won the National Book Award and was adapted as the 1955 film of the same name.
- Algren articulated the world of "drunks, pimps, prostitutes, freaks, drug addicts, prize fighters, corrupt politicians, and hoodlums".
- Art Shay singled out a poem Algren wrote from the perspective of a "halfy," street slang for a legless man on wheels.
Why it is Uncommon
Rarity in WikiCards follows a year of Wikipedia page views: the most read articles become Epic and Legendary cards. The Nelson Algren article was read about 53,000 times in a year. ATK comes from the length of the article and DEF from its quality, so this card hits with 75 and blocks with 71: each hit it takes is cut by 28 %.
