The facts on the card
The card carries these facts from its Wikipedia article.
- It sits near Hydra's westernmost limit with Monoceros, about 18° 34′ to the east and slightly south of Hydra's brightest star, Alphard.
- This grouping was discovered by Charles Messier in 1771, but there is no cluster precisely where Messier indicated, he made an error, as he did with M47.
- The value that he gave for the right ascension matches, however, his declination is off by five degrees.
Why it is Common
Rarity in WikiCards follows a year of Wikipedia page views: the most read articles become Epic and Legendary cards. The Messier 48 article was read about 3,500 times in a year. ATK comes from the length of the article and DEF from its quality, so this card hits with 53 and blocks with 37: each hit it takes is cut by 15 %.
