The facts on the card
The card carries these facts from its Wikipedia article.
- When a girder is subjected to a positive bending moment the top flange acts in compression making a flat plate flange more susceptible to local buckling than the balloon flange is.
- This type of girder was rarely used, its only common user being Isambard Kingdom Brunel in the 1840s and 1850s.
Why it is Common
Rarity in WikiCards follows a year of Wikipedia page views: the most read articles become Epic and Legendary cards. The Balloon flange girder article was read about 1,200 times in a year. ATK comes from the length of the article and DEF from its quality, so this card hits with 65 and blocks with 76: each hit it takes is cut by 30 %.
