The facts on the card
The card carries these facts from its Wikipedia article.
- It began with the sinking of the USS Maine in Havana Harbor in Cuba, and resulted in the U.S. acquiring sovereignty over Puerto Rico, Guam, and the Philippines, and establishing a protectorate over Cuba.
- It represented U.S. intervention in the Cuban War of Independence and Philippine Revolution, with the latter later leading to the Philippine–American War.
- The Spanish–American War brought an end to almost four centuries of Spanish presence in the Americas, Asia, and the Pacific, the United States meanwhile not only became a major world power, but also gained several island possessions spanning the globe, which provoked rancorous debate over the wisdom of expansionism.
Why it is Epic
Rarity in WikiCards follows a year of Wikipedia page views: the most read articles become Epic and Legendary cards. The Spanish–American War article was read about 940,000 times in a year. ATK comes from the length of the article and DEF from its quality, so this card hits with 95 and blocks with 74: each hit it takes is cut by 30 %.
