The facts on the card
The card carries these facts from its Wikipedia article.
- The novel is widely regarded as a critique of European colonialism in Africa, whilst also examining the themes of power dynamics and morality.
- Although Conrad does not name the river on which most of the narrative takes place, at the time of writing, the Congo Free State, the location of the large and economically important Congo River, was a private colony of Belgium's King Leopold II.
- Marlow is given an assignment to find Kurtz, an ivory trader working on a trading station far up the river, who has "gone native" and is the object of Marlow's expedition.
Why it is Epic
Rarity in WikiCards follows a year of Wikipedia page views: the most read articles become Epic and Legendary cards. The Heart of Darkness article was read about 680,000 times in a year. ATK comes from the length of the article and DEF from its quality, so this card hits with 77 and blocks with 91: each hit it takes is cut by 36 %.
